20. Team WWE Versus The Nexus, SummerSlam 2010

When The Nexus attacked John Cena in June 2010, they established themselves as a force that ran roughshod over WWE. They ran in on main events, ruined broadcasts, and asserted their dominance over the company before finally agreeing to meet a WWE all-star team in an elimination match at SummerSlam.

Team WWE scored the first victory of the evening, revealing their mystery member to be Daniel Bryan, a former member of The Nexus. The two teams clashed in a heated battle that raged for more than half an hour, finally coming down to Cena and Bryan against Wade Barrett and Justin Gabriel.

Barrett pinned Bryan after interference from The Miz, leaving Cena alone with two members of the opposing team. Still, Cena fought back, pinning Gabriel after he missed a 450 Splash and finally submitting Barrett with the STF.

While many criticized the finish (and rightfully so), the match itself was an excellent encounter that felt important, pushed new talents, and provided something different than business as usual.
