25 Greatest WWE SummerSlam Matches EVER

A masterpiece of the genre before it became a genre, the very first Tables, Ladders & Chairs match between the three teams that defined the new state of a thriving tag division was yet another immaculately crafted stunt show that was often imitated but almost never duplicated.

Structured to maximise the impact of the brutality, the danger and suspense increased as the contest wore on. Famed for some of the bigger bumps in the series at the time, The Hardy Boyz and Edge & Christian dragged Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley further into their world with some truly horrifying spills, leading to a grand finale in which virtually every wrestler in the match risked life and limb.

An Edge & Christian victory reflected something of a swerve due to the Carolina locale, but hometown favourites Matt and Jeff only added more to the action by falling from a great height in falling short.
