Certainly it's not technical merit that put Hogan and Andre on this list, but could you really assemble a run-down of WrestleMania's greatest matches without it? Sometimes a wrestling match exudes so much mythological aura that its legend supersedes tempo or precision. Much like the Rock/Hogan match earlier in this list, Hulk vs. Andre will forever be sustained by its mythos. Rarely ever is something so otherworldly firmly held as real by jaded eyes.

When Hogan finally hoists Andre up and slams him down before (allegedly) 93,000 fans, it's lived up to every ounce of hype. There have been great matches that don't reach their imagined potential, with fan expectations rising higher than ever. Hulk vs. Andre did what it was expected to do, what it was hoped it would do, and that was scratch the stratosphere. Basic astounds perhaps once in a generation, explaining its perma-etched place in wrestling lore.
