16. Brett DiBiase Helps Randy Orton Beat John Cena - SummerSlam 2009
Believe it or not, when John Cena and Randy Orton clashed at SummerSlam 2007, it was a fresh match. Two years later, though, WWE decided to go back to the well, and the results were not as encouraging. This time, Orton was the champion, and with Legacy (Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes) in his corner, Cena came in as an underdog.
Still, Cena managed to dominate Orton. The WWE Champion got himself disqualified by shoving the referee, but Vince McMahon demanded the match be restarted, with Orton able to lose the belt on a DQ. Orton tried to get himself counted out, but Vince restarted the match again. Orton pinned Cena with his feet on the ropes, but after checking the tape, the match was restarted once more. Finally, Cena looked to have Orton beaten, but a fan came out of the crowd, attacked the referee, and helped Orton win.
The fan was none other than Brett DiBiase, the younger brother of Orton's teammate, Ted. What seemed like a completely random occurrence at the time seemed equally random the next night, when Orton disavowed knowledge of DiBiase's actions and said that we'd never see Brett again. This was supposed to be the start of a storyline for the younger DiBiase, but WWE changed their minds, cut bait, and it turned out Orton was right.
