Calling The Big Show's WrestleMania history "spotty" would be generous. With no major rivals heading into the 2005 event, The Big Show laid down a challenge to sumo wrestling great Akebono, the first non-Japanese born Yokozuna (sumo's highest rank) in history. To prepare for the bout, Big Show attempted to push a truck over on an episode of SmackDown, but needed help from a jack to get it to move.

At WrestleMania 21 it was time for the big bout. Akebono and The Big Show, both attired in traditional sumo mawashis, entered the circle, and what followed, whether work or shoot, was a minute-plus of action that did nothing for anybody. Akebono nearly succumbed to a wardrobe malfunction, but he managed to drive Big Show out of the circle, bringing the giant's WrestleMania record to 0-7.

Akebono would soon take up pro wrestling full-time in Japan, while Big Show never again delved into the world of sumo.
