17. Ken Patera Murders A Promo

Ken Patera is one of the strongest men to ever step foot in a wrestling ring, with a world-class weightlifting career before he turned to wrestling. He was never known for his mic skills, though, and that was never more evident here in yet another promo that has become a cult favorite through the years because of the internet. "Mean" Gene Okerlund deserves much of the credit for this promo being as memorable as it is. As Patera begins to spiral out of control with his bumbling, Okerlund begins to look around as if to wonder if it's really going to happen this way. The promo continues on and you can see Gene begin to lose his composure a bit before having enough and turning away to visibly begin laughing to himself... while still holding the mic for Patera. If we're being honest with each other, Okerlund should get the praise here. The promo was pretty bad without him, but it would have simply blended into the background, so to speak, with all of the rest of bad acting and promos from that time. "Mean" Gene helps to make it stand out and for that, we thank him.
