25 Most Memorable Wrestling Promos Of All-Time

20. Jake Roberts Is A Terrible Gambler

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UzwIo5O99vc Heroes Of Wrestling was a 1999 pay-per-view that featured almost nothing but wrestlers that saw their biggest fame in the 1970's and 1980's. It was full of terrible matches featuring old, out-of-shape workers in front of a lackluster crowd, all while awful commentary covers the entire thing. It is widely viewed as one of the worst wrestling events to ever take place above the "working in a high school gym in front of 15 people" level. The one thing about the show that stands out above all else is Jake "The Snake" Roberts cutting a backstage promo while he was as wasted as a human being can be while still being conscious. He was slurring his words, not making any sense and all but leaning on the interviewer to make sure he didn't go crashing to the ground. His gambling references (the event was taking place at a casino) were on a different level of insane, not making any sense at all. It was an embarrassing moment for everyone involved and everyone watching. Jake has had some very well-known battles with drug and alcohol addiction, and this was one of his most high-profile lapses in judgement.
