19. Roddy Piper Changes The Questions
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qo_QrixLSSc "Rowdy" Roddy Piper might be pro wrestling's original "loose cannon". When he had a microphone in his hand, you never knew what he was going to say. He would become notorious for going off-script and saying what was on his mind, even if it wasn't what he was "supposed to" say. Throughout his colorful career, there may not be a single line that represents him any more than what he said at the end of this promo. During an episode of Piper's Pit with journeyman worker Frank Williams, Piper was very disrespectful and would treat Williams like garbage. Poor Frank had the unenviable job of trying to fight back on the mic with one of the most charismatic "talkers" of all-time and it wasn't long before a verbal assault from Piper turned into a physical one. After disposing of Williams, Piper delivered that infamous line: "Just when they think they got the answers, I change the questions." The line described Piper to perfection. Whenever you think you knew what was going to happen, he made sure to change directions. A full year before the first WrestleMania, this helped to make Piper one of the most hated men in America, period, not just in wrestling.
