Attempting to cram the insane amount of chaos that was pumped into all things World Wrestling Entertainment during 2021 in just one humble column is a feat even your trusty writer may struggle to pull off completely. But like WWE trying to get over the ThunderDome as a viable substitute for the real deal, you bet your ass I'm going to give it a go!

As noted, 2021 picked up where we'd left off at the end of the previous soul-destroying year as LED screens and cheers.wav sucked the life out of everything from already excruciating games of charades to what should have been career highlights for the likes of Bobby Lashley and even poor Miz. Thankfully, rousing Rumble wins for The EST of WWE and Rated R Superstar helped mask that feeling of pointlessness that often came about when watching WWE programming throughout a usually anticipated Road to WrestleMania.

And then they returned. The genuine voices of a grateful to be back WWE Universe filling out half of Raymond James Stadium, evading torrential Tampa downpours to add some much-missed lustre to Belair, Ripley, Reigns, and more's 'Mania moments. Even a brief trip back into screen city couldn't kill the vibe as July soon brought about the second coming of the masses.

The Mom came back around come SummerSlam, alongside a Beast post-Cena squashing at the hands of a Tribal Chief. Big E finally successfully cashed in on his potential. And NXT kissed goodbye to Black and Gold once and for all.

It was a typical mixed bag across the board both on and off-screen, as is usually the case in Vinnie Mac's empire. But it's hard to put 2021 under the microscope without acknowledging the sheer amount of unquestionable talent WWE let go over the last 12-months, with 80 (!) gifted folks, from Bray Wyatt to Jeff Hardy, being given their marching orders this year largely due to questionable "budget cuts".

In short, it's been a jam-packed 2021 and with this amount of drama, shock, and even sometimes joy tumbling into existence, it's made for more than a few exciting, intriguing, and often revealing Instagram posts along the way...
