25 Things You Didn't Know About John Cena
15. Lunch With Him Once Cost Fans $25,000
How many Tic-Tacs could one get for $25,000? In the current economy, probably those 3 boxes that Cena consumed before his matches and that's it. Anyway, this isn't a deep dive on rising food prices, it's an article about things you might not know about one of WWE's favourite sons. Food prices are applicable though, because get this. Sitting down? Ready to have your socks blown off?
Heading into WrestleMania 41 weekend, WWE promoted in conjunction with On Location that fans could have a private lunch with Cena for a cool 25 grand. It was at a 5-star restaurant. You’d bloody well hope it wasn’t Burger King! That'd be an expensive burger, fries and drink. Then, the gag would be that John didn't turn up because 'you can't see him'.
He did turn up, naturally. The man's a gent, but even he must've been scoffing at those prices. More power to anyone who's willing to drop a cool 25k just to hang out and eat chips with a wrestler. Other packages for 'Mania 41 weekend included the option to watch the show in a private box with select WWE stars who weren't on the card, or other legends like Hulk Hogan.
It was a license to print easy money, and you've really got to wonder if anybody who bit feels like they got full value. Where are these folks who have that kind of cash, and why are they choosing to spend it on a communal lunch date with any wrestler?! That 25k could clearly go on at least 3 WWE house show tickets. Clearly.
OK, that was cheeky.
