If the fan holding up a humble sign saying: “The Bald John Cena” happens to be reading this piece, then congratulations. You, dear reader, pushed none other than John himself towards a hair transplant. He spotted that sign, and it embarrassed him. That's not a nice thought, y'know, but Cena is glad that he went down the transplant route in the end.

He told PEOPLE that he wished he'd done it a decade ago: “I hate the fact that if there wasn’t so much shame around it, I’d have gotten it done 10 years ago”, he said. Eventually, John went through with the procedure in November 2024 after doing his homework on what'd be best for his head. As you can see by watching his retirement tour, the transplant was a raging success.

Now, Cena can turn to those signs and chop his crotch like he's a member of D-Generation X during the 'Attitude Era'

There were a lot of slightly cruel comments all over social media during some of his matches before that 2024 operation happened. For example, people pointed out that Cena had a bald patch during his match vs. Austin Theory at WrestleMania 39 in 2023. Back then, it seemed likely that John would work a few more bouts then call it a day.

Not quite. He announced a huge retirement tour the following year, and (complete with swanky new hairdo) he worked that throughout 2025. The signs mocking his hairline dried up, and Cena has owned his hair transplant ever since. He'd encourage anybody struggling with self confidence due to hair loss to give it a look in.
