19. He Had Cancerous Spots Removed
From a comedic entry to an altogether serious one.
Nobody's health should ever be taken for granted, but it's easy to overlook certain red flags when you're young and distracted with other things. Cena revealed when promoting a partnership with Neutrogena in early-2025 that he never wore sunscreen growing up. Eventually, he decided to get a skin checkup and had a cancerous spot removed from his right pectoral.
Then, John went back in to see his GP and had another removed on his right shoulder. When talking about all of this, he said: “It shows up like a white polka dot on the side of my chest and on my shoulder. If you watch WWE, you’ll be able to see them”. Personally, this writer can't say he's ever noticed what Cena is talking about, but some fans might've clocked those dots over the years.
Of course, it's a very good thing that John caught wind of this so early and was able to get healthy before anything more serious developed. His doctor was on the ball. The importance of one's health shouldn't be ignored. Most reading this will know that, surely, but it's worth repeating. Cena put that over during the Neutrogena bit.
Further, JC was grateful that his doc was so gentle about the whole thing and helped to put his mind at rest. The dreaded 'C' word is not something anybody wants to hear at any stage in their life. It'd come as a huge fright, so John thanks his lucky stars that he managed to catch the affected areas ASAP and continue his career.
