25 Worst Wrestling Moments Of 2022

17. Where Is Veer?

Veer Mahaan
WWE

The legend of Veer will never be forgotten.

Veer Mahaan had led a pretty interesting life, becoming one of the first two Indians to sign a Major League Baseball contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2008, before eventually joining WWE in 2018. He tagged in NXT under the name Rinku as one half of Indus Sher, debuting in March 2020, before being renamed as Veer and being used to back up Jinder Mahal on Raw alongside his teammate, Shanky.

Jinder Mahal and Shanky were drafted to SmackDown in 2021, leaving Veer on Monday Night Raw. On October 25th, 2021, the first vignette aired for the reimagining of Veer Mahaan. This was followed by another... and another... for months on end. Not since Emmalina had WWE run such an excessive amount of vignettes with no payoff insight. All in all, this went on for over five months, by which point Mahaan's second debut had essentially become a running joke among fans.

When Veer finally appeared on Raw on the April 5th, 2022 episode of Raw, attacking Rey and Dominik Mysterio, the Indian had basically become a meme. He won a series of meaningless squash matches and defeated both Mysterios before being sent back to NXT for an Indus Sher revival. He was eventually let go in 2024 and now lives a spiritual life far, far away from pro wrestling as a Hindu monk.
