Pat McAfee vs. Austin Theory was booked for WrestleMania 38, with Vince McMahon continuing to act as a mentor figure to Theory in the run-up to the match and on the night itself. While opinion has become split on McAfee within wrestling's fandom, his everyman schtick was riding high at this point in time.

Coming out to the ring, flanked by Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders, McAfee defeated Theory in just under 10 minutes. It's not a match that's going to go alongside Savage vs. Steamboat as a WrestleMania classic, but things got a whole lot worse at the end of the contest when McMahon confronted McAfee and took off his suit jacket, shirt, and tie, and called a referee to start an impromptu match.

The 74-year old billionaire hit a geriatric clothesline on the sports broadcaster after Theory blasted McAfee from behind, pulled him to the corner, and dragged him, balls first, into the ringpost. McMahon then punted a Cowboys NFL football into McAfee's face to record a pinfall victory in just under four minutes. It was a waste of everyone's time, which somehow got even worse when McMahon stunk A&T Stadium out by doing the worst job of selling a Stone Cold Stunner in WWE history when Steve Austin came out to avenge McAfee. Austin, laughing his head off at how badly the Stunner went, slightly redeemed the moment, but only barely.
