25 Worst Wrestling Moments Of 2024

WWE and AEW make bank in 2024, but all the money in the world couldn't have saved these stinkers

To be absolutely clear before kicking things off, the worst thing in wrestling was, is and continues to be the details and fallout of the sex trafficking lawsuit filed by Janel Grant against WWE, Vince McMahon and John Laurinaitis. Not only does that serve as a reminder of the industry's grim underbelly, it also trivialises absolutely everything else that goes on. As such, this list will stick to things that happened on screens. Bad angles, botches, bloopers and booking misfires are the theme, rather than the 25 (and then some) worst things that eeked out from a business that continues to cagily foster a darker side.

With that said, the only other major caveat in reviewing the year's biggest fumbles is that the list will remain exclusive to WWE and AEW, and not just because they occupy most of WhatCulture.com's coverage. The two mainstream North American promotions have the biggest budgets, reaches and opportunities to do the coolest and most interesting stuff.

It's why it's all the stranger when they end up significantly wide of that mark. Such as the time when...

25. Damian Priest Doesn't Kick Out

Considering how important production has been to WWE historically and during its current boom, there have been more than a few notable and awkward botches in high profile moments. Some - such as The New Catch Republic's WrestleMania entrance being hijacked by frozen DIY graphics - are annoyances unbecoming of the market leader in its most moneyed state ever, but nothing that breaks the emersion where it matters.

Some - such as Damian Priest failing to kick out of a Seth Rollins move during a World Title showdown - are rather less forgivable.

Priest had put a good run together since becoming Champion at WrestleMania, building a reputation as a wrestler who could excel beyond the Judgment Day as a babyface, but this was an uncomfortable misfire that not only diluted the energy in the building but was also written across his face as the match reached its dramatic and storyline-heavy conclusion.
