24. LL Cool J Presents The Opening Video Package
It was known ahead of time that rapper and actor LL Cool J would be helping to kick off WrestleMania in some form or another, but most were likely expecting an appearance in-person, perhaps an in-ring skit with another wrestler. Instead, in a rather strange creative choice, he narrated the opening video package, as well as appearing in the video himself, talking up the historical importance of WrestleMania as an event and working through a rather clumsy monologue about the techno-centric nature of life on Earth (which is going to look mighty dated in a few years' time). The video ends with the rapper welcoming fans to WrestleMania and then pressing the much-mocked play button that forms part of this year's logo. They missed a trick by not having him press a stop button when the event finished, too. Given how LL Cool J hasn't really been relevant or particularly popular for years, it's a strange choice of an entertainer to hire for this role: doesn't it feel about 15 years too late?
