The Bret Hart Conspiracy Theory really starts picking up steam here. The Hitman lost multiple titles to what could be termed ‘inferior’ opponents, and never got a chance to face them in a title rematch because both men went on to lose their newly won gold in less than four days.

Hart lost a long, hard-fought “I Quit” match to Bob Backlund for the WWF Championship, only to watch Backlund drop the strap three days later to Diesel in eight seconds. Hitman would get his revenge on Backlund at WrestleMania XI and would be the one to end Diesel’s year-long run on top in late 1995. Unfortunately, this wouldn’t be the last time Hart lost a title and never got to challenge again for it…
