It seemed pretty obvious regardless of injury that The Rock was not going to invoke his rematch clause after losing the WWE Championship at WrestleMania XXIX. With his loss to John Cena, Rocky’s two-and-a-half-month reign ended with two title defenses, only one successful.

The almost-comical part of this was Booker T coming out on Raw the night after Mania and telling the crowd that The Rock was still the #1 contender and entitled to a rematch against Cena, but he tore abdominal muscles and would not be able to compete. The crowd reacted as if this was a storyline excuse to write off The Rock since he wasn’t contractually obligated to appear.

It’s unclear whether Rock will lace up the boots again, but it’s highly doubtful that we’ll see him vie for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship again.
