Title Lost: WWE Intercontinental Championship Lost Title To: Zack Ryder

One of the most popular ways to not get your contractual title rematch is to not have the opportunity to cash that title opportunity in because the belt has already jumped to someone else.

For Kevin Owens, KO-Mania I (also known as WrestleMania XXXII) was not a banner event, as Owens lost his Intercontinental Championship in a multi-man ladder match to… Zack Ryder. Ryder would then go on to lose the IC title the next night on Raw to The Miz, while Owens would go on to sort of flounder in #1 contender’s matches for the world and IC titles.

KO would get a match for the Intercontinental Championship at Extreme Rules, but it was a fatal four-way bout, so he never even got a one-on-one contest to win back the title.
