Get used to seeing Bret Hart on this list. By the end, you’ll probably be agreeing with any conspiracy theorists who think that Vince was always trying to screw Bret, not just in Montreal.

Of course, this is the (in)famous double title change at the end of the abysmal WrestleMania IX, where Hart lost to Yokozuna after being blinded by salt. Hulk Hogan ran down to ringside to help his friend (cough, cough), and then somehow found himself accepting an immediate title match against Yoko. Less than a minute later, Hogan pinned Yokozuna for his fifth WWE title. Hart’s automatic rematch went out the door, but he’d regain the championship a year later against Yokozuna at WrestleMania X, so it worked out in the long run.

As for Hogan, the party was short-lived, as he lost a rematch to Yoko two months later and wouldn’t hold WWE gold again for nearly nine years.
