25 Years Of WWE Raw Mistakes

23. 1995 - Is OJ Simpson Guilty? (October 2nd)

Shane McMahon Vince McMahon
WWE

Clearly rattled by the early success of WCW Nitro, Vince McMahon introduced a slice of real-life into a pre-taped edition of Raw in a bizarre publicity grab gone wrong.

The company had previously come under fire for running polls based on pre-determined events, but exploiting the biggest murder trial in the world for audience engagement (if not financial gain) was an odd new grasp at the zeitgeist.

The decision to donate proceeds to charity was equally ill-advised. WWE earned further backlash when the charities in question complained about their causes being linked to a double-murder trial, having not even been asked if they wished to even be dragged into the sorry stunt in the first place!
