3 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Rampage (Oct 6 - Results & Review)

Ups...

3. Not Just Spots. Story!

Daniel Garcia Jeff Hardy
AEW

Originally, it seemed like Rampage's opening eight man tag would be just another dizzying blend of spots for the sake of it. Hell, even the commentators remarked on how ineffectual the referee had to be because nobody would follow his lead. New rule: Tony Schiavone shouldn't be allowed to point out that refs are helpless to lay down the law.

Then, one short backstage promo changed everything. There, the ex-JAS crew bemoaned their loss to The Hardys and Best Friends, and Matt Menard chewed Daniel Garcia out for dancing rather than wrestling. That subtle splash of story made the eight man 100% worthwhile.

Good times.

The live crowd were right into Garcia's dance off with Jeff Hardy too, which suggests he might be a surprise babyface breakout package soon. The fact this was all action and presented friction amongst the heels afterwards scores it an 'Up'.
