3 Ups & 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (Apr 4)
1. Beyond The Bulls***
Screwy finish aside, Pete Dunne and Roderick Strong vs. The Authors Of Pain was a borderline great match, and the best thing on the show. Even then, the ending wasn't that bad. Undisputed hate Dunne and Strong, and they didn't want to defend their belts, so them showing up makes sense... it's just a shame NXT had to run two interference angles on the same 50-minute show.
In terms of action, it delivered. Dunne is a special performer. He elevates everything he's involved in, and his partner, Strong, was one of WWE's low-key standouts last year. This union will likely end in 'The Bruiserweight' turning, but they delivered against the Authors, both as sellers and aggressors.
The interference came with all four down on the mat. AoP had wiped Dunne and Strong out when they surged following a double-team Bitter End, then out came the wolves, drawing the DQ. Another positive here is that the Triple Threat tag match sounds great on paper, and it's tough to predict, too.
Are The Authors main roster bound? If this is Cole's second match of the night, will he even be able to compete? The seeds of doubt have been sown, so let's hope it delivers.
