3 Ups & 3 Downs From This Week's Impact Wrestling (Jan 11)

2. Message Sent

Tessa Blanchard's Knockouts Championship defence at Homecoming ended with some interference from guest referee Gail Kim. Kim dropped the champion with Eat Defeat, allowing Taya Valkyrie to lift the gold. Not exactly the cleanest of title losses, and Tessa's not let that go.

Her match this week against enhancement talent Cali Collins saw her pick up the three count using Eat Defeat. Blanchard sent a message to the Hall of Famer, making it clear that she wants revenge. We've seen what Tessa is capable of when she gets between those ropes and although Gail might be a wrestling legend, she may not quite be on the level Tessa's on right now.

Of course, this may not actually be leading towards a match. After all, Gail Kim's currently retired from active competition. As we know with professional wrestlers though, they don't often stay retired for that long. Impact have two (maybe more) pay-per-views coming up in 2019 with Slammiversary and Bound For Glory, and this could be a marquee match if it were to occur.

As for now, it's all up in the air.
