3 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE NXT UK (1 April)

1. Suplex City, B*tch

Millie McKenzie NXT UK
WWE

By wrestling standards, this was as standard as standard gets; a promo was interrupted, leading to a brawl, culminating in a match being made for next week’s NXT UK Prelude special. It was effective in establishing the next contender for Kay Lee Ray’s NXT UK Women’s Championship, though.

That person, of course, being Emilia McKenzie.

The former Millie McKenzie interrupted KLR’s victory speech after retaining the strap against Meiko Satomura a few weeks back, more or less putting her name forward as the next to challenge for the title. That’s when things got a tad interesting, as Isla Dawn smacked the eyelashes off of McKenzie’s face, ultimately leading to Satomura herself making the save. A glimpse of Emilia’s German suplex was on display here, and by God, is it still as perfect as ever.

Like we even had to guess, Sid Scala confirmed Ray and Dawn vs. McKenzie and Satomura for next Thursday. It’ll be a solid match, it makes sense, and we now have another top contender in the women’s division who hasn’t already had a title shot vs. ‘The Queen of Insanity’. Ticking all the right boxes so far.

A minor down for the slight name alteration, though. Emilia McKenzie doesn’t quite have the same ring to it.
