3 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Rampage (Mar 10)

3. Missed Opportunity

Konosuke Takeshita

There was another missed opportunity in the Takeshita vs. Vance match too, and it involved one Don Callis on guest commentary. Being honest, had JR or Chris Jericho not occasionally mentioned Don's name, you'd be forgiven for never realising he was at the desk. AEW's cameras certainly didn't show him.

Then, Mr. Callis said nothing of note about Konosuke.

His big pitch to the Japanese star got an 'Up' during last week's recap. No such luck for the pair here, because AEW outright failed to explain why Don was so interested in Takeshita, or give any insight into what the babyface thought about potentially linking up with a new manager.

In short, Callis on comms was pointless 'cause he barely spoke. Newsflash, TK: You have to follow up on an original plot point with more. That's what storytelling is. It defo isn't presenting an initial idea and then letting fans do all the legwork.
