3 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Rampage (Sept 8)

1. They Made The Most Of This

Samoa Joe Jeff Hardy
AEW

Eyebrows were raised when Samoa Joe vs. Jeff Hardy was announced as this week's Rampage main event. Some fans probs had to check the date on their phones, then got horrified to find they were holding a BlackBerry and actually watching a 2010 episode of TNA iMPACT instead.

The glory days, people. The. Glory. Days.

Joe vs. Jeff was way better than anyone could reasonably expect a Jeff Hardy singles match to be in 2023. He brought some energy with him, and Joe does such a swell job of getting booed despite also being popular with wrestling fans. That bodes well for his upcoming title match with MJF.

Rampage's headliner was another enjoyable watch, and it's nice to see Jeff looking motivated. This was genuinely the best he's looked on AEW TV to date, and it came in a one-on-one setting. Few could've predicted that before Friday's show aired.
