3 Ups & 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Mar 28)

1. The Final Salvo

The Miz John Cena

The Miz and John Cena can't go a week without spitting hot fire, and last night might have been their most spirited exchange yet. It started with another Total Bellas parody skit (highlighted by Miz's incredible Daniel Bryan impersonation), and continued with Miz & Maryse removing their disguises and once again ripping into Cena & Nikki Bella's relationship.

"I hope you enjoyed the Kid's Choice Awards," Maryse said, "because that's as close to having kids with John as you're going to get." Ouch.

Cena and Nikki interrupted, and John held nothing back in his response. After burying Maryse ("you weren't brought back before because you did nothing the first time"), he accused Miz of being somebody who talked a good game, but couldn't back it up. The insults kept flowing, and after calling Miz a p***y, Cena dared his rival to throw the first punch, adding that if Maryse tried anything, Nikki would "knock the Botox out of her cheeks."

Deep, personal, and grounded in reality, the Miz/Maryse vs. Cena/Nikki build has been excellent. The match itself might not be particularly exciting, but the group have done an outstanding job of making their bad blood feel very, very real. It feels like Miz and Cena are legitimately shooting on each other at times, and last night was definitely one of those moments.

They're two of the best talkers in the business, and if WrestleMania's match order was based on heat alone, this would be the main event.
