3 Ups & 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Feb 27)

3. Multi-Person Mania

Literally every SmackDown Title scene is currently stuck in a multi-person feud at the moment. Admittedly, WWE have booked singles bouts for the United States and Women's belts at Fastlane, but Jinder Mahal lurks on Orton and Roode's fringes, and everyone bar Tamina and Lana is involved in the Charlotte Flair vs. Ruby Riott storyline.

The Usos, too, are set to face The New Day on 11 March, but WWE are already teasing throwing the Bludgeon Brothers into the mix. It's an absolute shambles.

Multi-person storylines aren't a problem in and of themselves, but when they're your only booking crutch, they're a huge issue. Nobody gets a chance to shine when sharing the screen with up to five or six other wrestlers. They can't show any character, nor can they stand out. It's lazy, uninspiring booking, and if SmackDown is ever to recover, it's a habit they must shake.

AJ Styles was initially supposed to wrestle Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens at Fastlane. Dolph Ziggler and Baron Corbin were later thrown into the mix, and now, John Cena has joined the scrap. Why stop there, though? Might as well throw everyone else in too. Hell, let's go one step further. What's Colin Delaney doing next week? How about the Headbangers? Title shots all round, folks!
