3 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE Hall Of Fame 2024 (Results & Review)

2. Cut Short?

Lia Maivia
WWE

Was The Rock’s tribute to his grandmother cut short Friday night due to the ceremony stretching to nearly 1 a.m.?

It sure seemed so, with Rock keeping his remarks relatively brief in tracing Lia Maivia’s career as a promoter in Hawaii before segueing to a promo on Cody Rhodes, who was sitting in the front row behind the ring. The Final Boss spoke of Dusty Rhodes as one of his heroes before singling out Cody and telling him that what happens Saturday night isn’t business, it’s personal.

And then Rocky asked his mother to stand, called her the real Final Boss, said she’d like to smack Cody’s candy ass, and wrapped it up. It was an unspectacular appearance and induction speech, considering half of it was an in-character WrestleMania promo, and it was a pretty tepid way to end the event.
