Was there any doubt that Penta and Rey Fenix would mesmerize fans in their tournament final Monday night?

The brothers had advanced to the finals of the luchador tourney to see who would face Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship on Raw in Mexico City in two weeks, an unsurprising development, but still one that created a decent amount of buzz.

Penta and Fenix delivered a well-paced match, starting with a stalemate and some good exchanges and counters to establish parity. Everything continued to build until Penta elevated Rey for a pop-up somersault powerbomb for a two count, and then they went for broke.

Fenix blocked a Mexican Destroyer once, then flipped out of an avalanche variation and landed on his feet. Penta escaped a Mexican Muscle Buster and landed his Penta Driver for a near-fall. Then they fought outside and onto the announce desk, where Penta hit another Penta Driver through the table.

Back inside, Penta ripped his brother’s arm with the Sacrifice, but he hesitated before going for the Mexican Destroyer, which allowed Fenix to get a desperation hurricanrana. Another Mexican Destroyer finally landed for the pin, sending Penta to Mexico City against Roman.

Great TV match that delivered plenty for the fans in attendance and watching at home, and it likely only scratched the surface of what the brothers could do in the ring against each other.
