3 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE SmackDown (16 Oct - Results & Review)

Downs...

5. R-Truth's Injury Sucks Either Way

R-Truth vs. Damian Priest gets a ‘Down’ by default, because it always sucks when someone gets hurt. That’s a literal downer. Truth's injury appeared to be legitimate, and has been reported as such, so it's pretty crappy that a beloved veteran got struck down like this.

Being brutally honest, yours truly wasn’t hot on this grudge bout going in, but it blows for both guys that they couldn’t even properly get going before Truth suffered his injury. Fingers crossed he heals up ASAP, but WWE might want to have a right good think about where they're going with all of this.

There probs isn't much point in booking a rematch even when Truth is back in the game.

Lord only knows why Fraxiom is getting involved in all of this too. Nathan Frazer and Axiom were on hand to protect Truth from further punishment as Priest stared down at his old partner with a steel chair in hand. So, are we to assume that singles bouts like Frazer and Axiom vs. Priest are in the pipeline sooner rather than later?

Neither of those matches sound particularly enticing. It'd be for the best if WWE chalked this up to experience, drew a line under the Priest vs. Truth stuff, and focused on a follow-up rivalry for Damian. He sorely needs something special to make this revived heel run worthwhile.

Here's hoping R-Truth isn't too badly hurt, but reports coming out of SmackDown don't look good for him. Injuries at this stage in someone's career always carry higher risk too.
