3 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Jan 14)

4. They Missed An Open Goal

Legit can't believe they missed this.

The story of Sheamus vs. Ricochet going in was that Rico had broken Ridge Holland's nose back during the Day 1 Kickoff show. So, to avenge his mate, Sheamus was going to kick the ever-living-sh*te out of the high-flyer and put him back in his place. Does that sound familiar to anyone?

It should. Ricochet was one of the babyfaces who taunted Sheamus after Humberto broke his nose on Raw just last summer. WWE didn't instruct their announcers to mention that here at all, which was weird considering the broken nose parallels.

The actual match was fine enough (more on that later), but this was a missed opportunity to link back. WWE don't do that enough. They completely ignore things they booked in favour of pretending that match-ups are 100% fresh.
