3 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Jan 14)

1. What Was The Point?

Roman Reigns Seth Rollins

What a disappointment that Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns face-to-face was.

WWE hyped the thing hard all night, but nothing really happened beyond a teased Shield fist bump and Roman mentioning Becky Lynch for an easy pop. This was why they dumped on the Draft to bring Rollins over from Raw? Really?! Oooooh boy, these lads are gonna need way more than this half-baked slop.

Fans in Nebraska appeared to rally behind Reigns too. WWE probably don't want a full-blown babyface reaction for him quite yet, but what did they expect? They've put him up against a cackling jerk like Seth - this is the same man who invaded Edge's house a while back.

Also, Rollins is kinda being presented as an underdog hero who's referencing old favourites like The Shield and taking it to The Bloodline all on his own. There's no clear indication who people are supposed to like here. That could be a problem come the Rumble.
