3 Ups & 6 Downs From AEW Rampage (Dec 2)

2. Athena’s Aggression

Normally, it's a bad sign when there's a squash on a four-match Rampage card. That'd typically cause this writer to load up the old rant machine and fire off round after round at TK's office desk, but not this week. No, Athena smashing through Dani Mo gets a pass from this guy.

For a start, these women knew their purpose on the show and didn't deviate from it. Dani Mo was there to be all excited about her first big break, and Athena was in town to show off more of this newfound mean streak. Both achieved what they set out to do, and the post-match attack after the bell worked too.

Simple-but-effective comes to mind.

Athena is 100x more interesting as a vicious heel than she ever was as a valiant, video game-loving babyface (that last bit was WWE's fault, admittedly). Her aggressive approach to these matches, and her continued violence after them, is great to see.
