3 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE NXT 2.0 (Nov 2)

5. Where Is This Going?

Von Wagner Legado Del Fantasma Kyle O'Reilly

Kyle O'Reilly career trajectory has gone from playing essential cog in the Undisputed Era machine, to feuding with outgoing leader Adam Cole and now...acting as a mentor to some big WWE-style hoss? Seriously, O'Reilly and Von Wagner are just another run-of-the-mill tag-team in a long line of them.

Where is this actually headed?

O'Reilly has always been portrayed as a scrappy underdog in NXT. That's been true whether he's heel or babyface, so one must wonder why WWE's writers think him teaching Wagner anything is the right way to go in 2021. The newbie doesn't match Kyle's style (like at all).

Truthfully, O'Reilly could do more for Von Wagner if they were programmed opposite one another in a series of matches. WWE would be able to scratch the same teacher/student itch, but they'd avoid adding yet another thrown-together tandem into the mix.
