3 Ups & 7 Downs For WWE Raw (18 Aug - Results & Review)

Ups…

3. The Women Got There

WWE Raw Raquel Rodriguez Iyo Sky

After last week’s excellent match between Iyo Sky and Roxanne Perez, Raquel Rodriguez had to be feeling just a bit of pressure following that act on Monday night.

Her “big woman versus little woman” match against Iyo on Raw started slowly, but it picked up the pace on the back end, with Raquel catching a Bullet Train Attack to deliver a Samoan Drop and corkscrew elbow. Later, Rodriguez caught a Sky suicide dive and lawn-darted Iyo into the post. But Sky continued to counter Raquel’s power game, eventually reversing a Tejana Bomb into a headscissors into the turnbuckle, which allowed her to pick up the win with an Over the Moonsault.

While not on the level of last week’s entertaining battle, Iyo and Raquel managed to put together a good match that got Sky back in the win column. It’s also worth complimenting Rodriguez, who really has turned the trajectory of her career around since getting advice from Kevin Nash to carry herself more like a towering giant in wrestling. She still has some off moments, but her style has greatly improved in recent weeks.
