3 Ups & 7 Downs From WWE Raw (Dec 7)

Downs…

7. Who Talks Like That?

The opening segment was really a Tale of Two Segments. In the beginning, we were “graced” with Randy Orton’s presence, which meant it was time to hit the snooze alarm.

To make matters worse, we had to relive nearly the entire opening segment from last week’s Raw, with historical footage of Orton and Bray Wyatt’s previous rivalry, just in case we needed to be brought up to speed. So after enduring a repeat of last week’s segment, we were rewarded with an Orton promo where he talked about how he “smashed [his] moral compass” long ago and doesn’t need to wear a mask like the Fiend.

Seriously, who talks like this? Sure, it’s TV, and wrestling TV at that, so we’re not looking for realism here. But literally no one talks like that outside of a bad James Bond villain knockoff. And Randy is far from a Bond villain.

All of it just meant we opened Raw with 10 minutes of our lives we aren’t getting back.
