3 Ups & 7 Downs From WWE SmackDown (July 22)

6. A Directionless Exhibition

Raquel Rodriguez Sonya Deville

Raquel Rodriguez has lost serious steam since debuting hot in squashes and then taking Ronda Rousey to her limits. The former NXT Women's Champ is just another face on the roster now, and this win over Sonya Deville proves that WWE has nothing exciting for her.

Sonya is also spinning her wheels.

Deville doesn't have any direction to speak of beyond jawing off with old GM partner Adam Pearce in nothing backstage skits. Christ knows how any of what happened on this week's SmackDown was supposed to present Sonya as a threat. It might even have made some feel sorry for her.

Back to Rodriguez: Raquel sorely needs a proper feud to sink her teeth into. There's no reason why she couldn't be working some number one contender storyline with someone like Lacey Evans. It's like WWE don't want to prep anybody for Liv Morgan.
