3 Ups & 8 Downs From WWE Raw (27 Jul - Results & Review)

7. Video Packages Galore

WWE Raw Brock Lesnar Oba Femi
WWE

Monday night was the go-home Raw ahead of SummerSlam, which meant that WWE needed to sell several matches for the two-night PLE, but they went about it with a series of unimaginative video packages.

In addition to a video hyping the Women’s Intercontinental Championship match and a teaser for Big Cass, WWE aired multiple videos tracing the “epic” rivalry between Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns, and individual promos from Chad Gable, Penta, Iyo Sky, and Liv Morgan.

With the exception of Liv’s bad line reading, none of these promos on their own were bad, but (with the exception of Gable) they didn’t really advance their stories. It was a series of promo videos just to remind fans of the upcoming matches in the wrestlers’ own words.

They also aired a video hyping the Oba Femi/Brock Lesnar Hell in a Cell match narrated by… the cell. Yes, they actually created a video where the cell itself “spoke” and narrated a first-person account of its own history and how it’s the “final battlefield” for Oba/Brock.

On their own, each of these videos would have breezed by without even being mentioned, but the sheer volume of videos – and that goofy cell narrating its own video – was just too much.
