3 Ups & 9 Downs From WWE Raw (May 24)

6. What Is The Point Here?

Humberto Carrillo Sheamus

Remember a couple of months back when Sheamus was just having absolute bangers of matches with Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley and anyone else he faced? Apparently WWE has forgotten too.

Sheamus has gone from the guy who could hang with anyone to issuing lame non-title open challenges and then having to rely on rollups with tights to defeat underachievers like Humberto Carrillo. (See what jobbing Carrillo out as a 24/7 geek for a while has done?) Humberto is talented, but he hasn’t really gotten the upper hand after weeks, except in small doses.

Throw in Ricochet, who was all sour grapes after losing cleanly on the WrestleMania Backlash kickoff show, attacking Sheamus after the match and you have a strange situation with the Celtic Warrior having to fend off two inferior opponents while rarely defending his title – despite building a reputation recently for being a guy who loves to fight.

How does any of this help anyone, especially the United States Champion?
