WWE has a strange way of “building up” challengers for titles. They seem to somehow think that if a challenger loses matches in screwy fashion or wins them in screwy fashion that it sets them up for a “championship opportunity.”

On Monday, we saw Kofi Kingston and Drew McIntyre arguing with Bobby Lashley and each other about who should get the next shot at the WWE Championship. McIntyre argued that he lost at WrestleMania because of MVP, and it was Braun Strowman who was pinned at WM Backlash (not Drew). Kofi meanwhile argued that he beat Lashley last week – albeit with help from McIntyre. (Not to mention he lost clean to Elias a few weeks back.)

So what you have are two former world champions who either are losers or only won with help. And these are supposed to be the top two contenders for the top title on Raw.

But hey, the announcers told us these are supposed to be the top guys, so therefore we must cheer.
