3 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE Smackdown (Nov 22)

1. Every Underdog Has His Day

Finally, it was time for the show's main event - a ladder match pitting AJ Styles against James Ellsworth, with Ellsworth's Smackdown contract hanging above the ring. The outcome of the match was a foregone conclusion, given that news had already broken that Ellsworth had become a full-timer, but they managed to still make the bout exciting.

Obviously, Ellsworth - who was wearing a neck brace and a back brace - didn't get much offense in. Styles toyed with him for a bit, but when he tried to climb the ladder and retrieve the contract, Dean Ambrose ran in for the save. Styles managed to fight him off, but when he climbed the ladder again, Ellsworth tipped it over.

Ellsworth tried to climb the ladder, but Styles came back in - so Ellsworth laid him out with No Chin Music. Styles's ankle got caught in the ropes, so Ellsworth was able to climb up and grab the contract. This was actually a pretty clever way to end the bout - Ellsworth couldn't have won without help, but he ultimately finished things off on his own.
