3 Ups And 4 Downs From WWE NXT 402

4. Street Profits Look Dire
A couple of teaser segments have been aired now featuring Street Profits, apparently a tag team with an hip hop schtick that prompted superfluous commentator Percy Watson to pipe up "I cannot wait to see the Street Profits in action!" An endorsement from Watson has a desperate, dubbed-on feel to it, as if NXT is terrified the audience won't know what they are supposed to think.
The pairing bears an uncomfortable resemblance to Cryme Tyme, the unfortunate racially-charged street thug gimmick of the late 2000s. If that's all they are, the future looks pretty grim.
Hope exists, however, in the fact the pair look like more like losers than OGs in their brief outings. As a parody of 'urban' idiots obsessed with bling, swag and social media, Street Profits could be a lot more entertaining than if they played things straight. More Edge & Christian than Cryme Tyme, perhaps.
Nevertheless, that won't be easy to pull off, and the prognosis for an already dated-looking gimmick is not great.
