3 Ups And 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Jan 24)
1. Lumberjackin' It
As announced at the beginning of the show, the main event of Smackdown saw The Miz get his Intercontinental Championship rematch with Dean Ambrose in a lumberjack match. Due to a pre-match promo where Miz mentioned that his talents pay all the Smackdown superstars' salaries, all of the babyfaces were out to get him. The heels, for some reason, didn't mind.
The match was exciting, even though the presence of the lumberjacks allowed for some shortcuts. Things got exciting leading up to the end, and even interference from Maryse leading into a Busaiku Knee Kick from Miz couldn't put Ambrose down for three. Soon, Baron Corbin got impatient and ran in the ring to attack Ambrose, leading to all of the lumberjacks running in. They brawled in an "I should've seen that coming" Royal Rumble preview moment, but when the ring cleared out, Ambrose pinned Miz with Dirty Deeds.
This was a good match, but I'm not really sure where they go from here. Miz seems to be out of the title picture for now, and it doesn't look like there's a long-term plan for Ambrose as champ. I guess there doesn't need to be, though, as they'll probably just do the multi-man ladder match at WrestleMania again.
