3 Ups And 6 Downs From Last Night's WWE Smackdown (Dec 6)
1. One Good Turn...
Finally, it was time for the main event - The Miz defending the Intercontinental Title against Dean Ambrose. This match, thankfully, got a little bit of time, and even though there was a commercial toward the beginning, there was a good run afterwards.
Miz took it to Dean Ambrose, using his own moves as well as Daniel Bryan's. Ambrose was game, though, fighting back with everything in his arsenal. Eventually, Ambrose went to the top rope for his diving elbow, but Maryse tripped him up, sending him to the mat. Miz followed up with Bryan's running knee, but Ambrose kicked out after two.
That brought out James Ellsworth, who was looking to set the referee straight about Maryse's interference in order to get back in his ex-friend's good graces. Unfortunately, by distracting the referee, Ellsworth prevented him from seeing Ambrose get a small package. "The Lunatic Fringe" noticed Ellsworth and went after him, but Miz hit him with the Skull-Crushing Finale for the win.
This was a good main event with a well-booked finished. There's not much long-term mileage in an Ambrose-Ellsworth feud, but it needs some resolution, and this was a great way to give Ellsworth another "win."
