3 Ups And 7 Downs From WWE NXT 2.0 (Dec 28)
4. Solo's Big Win Overshadowed By Family Affair
With Solo Sikoa innocently stumbling in on a slice of Legado del Fantasma family drama backstage, it didn't take too long for fans' mouths to start salivating at the concept of a Legado/Usos six-man at some point down the line. With WWE pumping as much main roster goodness into 2.0 as possible as of late, that reality may not be as far away as you'd think.
But before that potential multi-man dream war, Solo would have to go one-on-one with Santos Escobar for his apparent crimes last night. Unfortunately, though the match itself wasn't by any means terrible, the newcomer in particular didn't really do much to cement himself as one of the cornerstones of NXT going forward. A fairly basic showing with comebacks that felt devoid of any real momentum was even further reduced to the part of afterthought by the time Xyon Quinn hilariously turned up to creepily "connect" with Elektra Lopez once more.
Inevitably, this development distracted the former Cruiserweight Champion as he dived at the ladies' man before getting a superkick and splash for his troubles. But the nature of Solo's "shock" win made it feel instantly cheap, the ringside drama is about as riveting as a mid-week bath that's been left for ten minutes too long, and the feeling that Legado in general are being thoroughly wasted at this moment in time once again could not be escaped.
Oh, and a "possessed" Boa still has unfinished business with Sikoa which will no doubt make for even more captivating television for the next few weeks...
Happy New Year, folks.
