30 Best Performers In WrestleMania History
2. Shawn Michaels (6-9-2)
Despite the
“Mr. WrestleMania” moniker, Shawn Michaels has lost quite a few major matches
at the Showcase of the Immortals. And although some wrestlers have better
records or have main-evented more Manias (HBK has closed out five of them),
Michaels is the best in-ring performer at WrestleMania.
Consider that all five of Michaels’ main events could be considered must-see bouts: Iron Man world title match at XII, WWE Championship against Steve Austin at XIV, triple threat world title at XX, WWE Championship against John Cena at XXIII and Career versus Streak against Undertaker at XXVI.
Now throw in other classic Mania matches such as the Intercontinental Championship ladder match at WrestleMania X, against Chris Jericho at XIX and of course the first Undertaker match at XXV. Not convinced yet? Don’t forget HBK losing to Kurt Angle at WrestleMania XXI and retiring Ric Flair (from WWE, at least) at XXIV.
All of this doesn’t even count his early matches as part of the Rockers or during the beginning of his singles career. For all these reasons, Shawn Michaels is in a category all of his own: The Greatest In-Ring Performer in WrestleMania History.
