8. Injecting Life Into A Dead Program

8 Shane McMahon The Undertaker RAW

The feud between The Undertaker and the McMahon Family was pretty much a dud all the way up until the final RAW before WrestleMania, when Taker and Shane opened the show with a segment that finally injected some life and some heat into the program.

The two came to blows, and Shane was able to incapacitate the Deadman long enough to head up to the top rope and launch himself off, hitting a Leap of Faith elbow on Taker, who was lying prone on the announce table. All of a sudden the feud was alive.

This picture is yet another great example of pro wrestling athleticism sitting side by side with the wonderful emotional reactions of crowd members and other staff. This is a picture of open mouths and shock, a crowd of people losing their cynicism in the face of risk-taking.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
