30 Greatest WWE Villains

There are so many to choose from, but who are the greatest villains around?

It's a strange fact of the pro wrestling business that many fans favour heel characters - perhaps it's the inner rebel in everyone, loving the thought of being the one who causes all the carnage. Maybe the same reasons can be attributed to why The Joker is one of the most popular characters in the Batman universe, because he gets to have all the fun, and can get away with absolutely anything. Heels are cool, but not always. Indeed, some of the most memorable rogues throughout WWE history have been incredibly hard to like, and that's what makes them so great at what they do. Sure, looking back in retrospect may make it easy for fans to appreciate a great heel, and they may be remembered fondly, but that doesn't mean they weren't hated during their original run with the company. This list aims to compile 30 of the most truly memorable villains from throughout WWE's rich and varied history. Some of these may make wrestling fans nod their heads in agreement, whilst other choices may have some spitting with hatred at how great the person was at drawing heat, but all have shown ability as a heel in the promotion, and deserve acknowledgement for all the booing and cat calls they've provoked.

Not just any wrestler could have went up against the might of Hulkamania in the mid-1980's, a truly majestic heel like 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper was much-needed.
